Ukombozi farm. Organic farming with a social impact.

Making young people self-sustainable

Ukombozi farm is a community-based organization (C.B.O) based in Kip Karren River village in Kakamega county. We started our C.B.O in 2019 with the aim of helping marginalized members of the community with modern methods of organic farming.

Our main aim is to train and empower young people to make them self-sustainable. Soon we will be having a vocational training center for animal husbandry.

Our philosophy is to help marginalized members of our community to get out of poverty, to stop the need for aid and donations, while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The organic circle of sustainability

At Ukombozi farm, we do organic farming – an agriculture that relies on techniques such as crop rotation, compost manure and biological pest control.
  • no use of petrochemical fertilizers and pesticides,
  • no plant growth regulators (hormones),
  • no use of antibiotics in livestock,
  • no genetically modified organisms.
This way we work in harmony with nature ensuring a sustainable relationship between animals, plants, humans and the environment.

Team Players

Lawrence Lusiki

Project leader

“Most of our marginalized members of our community who I have interacted with lack the knowledge and know-how to do organic farming, that is more productive but sustainable at the same time. Organic farming, that can lead to them been self-reliant in future in the community.

We came across many who engage in farming but are not self-sustainable. That is the reason we came up with idea of forming this C.B.O with a Vocational Training centre to learn the principles of organic farming in a practical setting.”
